How is SEO Success Measured
Every website is unique in structure and content. Along with this, every business has individual goals that they are trying to achieve. Meaning that having a universal standard for SEO success can be a bit challenging. Despite this, there are certain KPI’s that can be leveraged to get a pulse on SEO performance no matter the product or service:
These KPI's Are:
- Organic Traffic: This is the total amount of unique users that navigated to your website at a certain point of time through an organic channel such as Google Search.
- Organic Conversions: Conversions can be anything that signals an action from a website, such as completing a phone call or contact form submission. Each company can define what a conversion means to them. We like tracking conversions as it allows for a dollar amount to be added to the user. If someone completed a contact form goes on to purchase the product, we would attribute that amount to that marketing initiative.
- Organic Rankings for Your Page: This is in reference to where you website lands on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). Each link is assigned a number depending on where they are located on the page. For example, page one will typically include 10-12 links. Tracking where your website lands over an extended period will give you an indication to how successful your SEO efforts are and if you need to boost them.
- Organic Rankings for Keywords: Similarly, to where your page ranks, you can also track the number of keywords triggered by your website and the page they would rank on. The goal in keyword development is the steady increase of relevant high-ranking terms, thus making it another metric that is easy to track.
Defaulting to these KPIS as your base measure of SEO success will allow you to track performance over time and attribute dollar amounts to your SEO efforts.
