Marketing Technology We Can be Thankful For

Marketing Technology We Can be Thankful For

At Forthea, we love keeping up with advancements in marketing technology. After all, finding the right new tool can save us oodles of time in simple tasks, and can allow us to focus on what we really love, producing real results.

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I’ve rallied up a few of the team members here at Forthea Interactive and asked which marketing technology or resource they are most thankful to have. Here is what they had to say:

1. Spyfu

Amber Joy – Account Executive

Spyfu is a web-based search analytics service designed to provide useful insights and data regarding your competitors’ keyword strategies. By using web scraping technology, Spyfu is able to tell you which words your competitors are bidding on, how well they are ranking and much more. Learn more about Spyfu.

2. Dual Screen Monitors

Callie Arnold – Project Manager

“I am most thankful for our dual screen monitors. It really helps me stay focused and efficient in my day-to-day tasks,” says Callie.

For increased efficiency in managing a dual monitor set up, check out these great programs:

Ultramon – This program adds several great functions like a smart task bar for the folks out there on a Windows set up.

Synergy – Synergy not only helps you manage dual monitors, it helps you manage different operating systems on each monitor with the same keyboard and mouse.

3. Nielsen Norman Group Website

Shannon Rasberry – Senior Copywriter

It’s probably no surprise that a Forthea employee loves a site dedicated to data and research. Of the Nielsen Norman Group, Shannon loves that “they conduct scientific usability research that helps guide the development of best practices for UX and can be used to increase the value of website design and copy.”

4. Notepad ++

Michael Ashby – Developer

Michael’s job as a site developer keeps him knee deep in code pretty much all of the time. For that reason, Michael is thankful for Notepad++ this Thanksgiving. Notepad++ is a robust source code and text editor designed for Windows, and it is perfectly free to download.

5. Microsoft Excel

Nick Lindauer – VP of Client Services

To be a little bit more specific, Nick is thankful for Microsoft Excel pivot tables. Pivot tables are a powerful function which can automatically do things like sort, count and organize large volumes of data. If you haven’t had the chance yet, try building your own pivot table.

6. Occam’s Razor

Zach Doty – SEO Specialist

While you’ve probably heard of the principle of Occam’s Razor, you may not know about the blog of the same name by Avinash Kaushik. Avinash Kaushik is the author of two best-selling books on Web Analytics, the Digital Marketing Evangelist for a little company called GOOGLE, and much, much more. Zach is thankful for the blog because it “combines the best elements of practice leadership and thought leadership.” Learn a little more about Avinash and his blog.

This year, and every year, I am thankful for Evernote. Evernote is a powerful app suite designed to make sure that you not only never lose information you’ll want to access later, but also to make sure that it’s easy to find later. Tag, clip and catalog manually typed notes, voice recording, web articles, photos and more. 9. Adwords Editor

Davis Baker – SEM Specialist

Google Adwords Editor is a free, offline Google ad editing software focused on making the lives of PPCs everywhere easier. Davis’s favorite feature? That’s easy. . . Bulk updates.

10. Barry Schwartz’s SearchCap: The Day in Search

Terri Stevens – SEO Specialist

According to Terri, she is thankful for Barry Schwartz’s SearchCap because “in this rapidly evolving industry we must stay current and SearchCap delivered to my inbox daily makes doing so much easier.” You can sign up to receive the SearchCap daily email too.

11. GoToMeeting

Roberta Higgins – Account Manager

As an Account Manager, Roberta’s job is to communicate with our valued clients, so it comes as no surprise that she is thankful for GoToMeeting. In case you aren’t familiar with it, GoToMeeting is a platform dedicated to maximizing online meetings. With features like screensharing, videoconferencing and teleconferencing, it gets us as close to possible with clients we might not be able to meet with in person.

What marketing technology or resource are you thankful for this year?

Katrina Kokoska

When she’s not at the office, Katrina is either running, eating (a self-confessed lover of food), hanging out with her family, or spending time outdoors.
